Reasons why i chose the Hangover
Oh the Bacholor party, which is the last stand a man has before he gets married, in all of its glory is shown through this movie providing endless amounts of comedy never failing to make you laugh at their stupidity. The actors perform amazingly as they show exactly how not to do it, by close encounters with crazy nude japenese men, and tigers that have angry owners. I was exposed to The Hangover with my cousin, it was love at first sight.
Commentary
The Hang over has recieved many reviews including one by Keith Philips, his review was a little less than expected as he did not like The Hangover calling it a romp. He also noted that it had no where to go.
There was a second review by Michael Sragow, which exmplained the movie as if it were seen by a very conservative old man, he mentioned words like "cheap" and "vulgur" to describe what I thought as a great movie. A final review by Rob Calvert explains the movie in its true light providing the reader with an image of a stupid, yet funny movie.
What Ive chosen to foucus on
The Hangover has several main characters, the first one I will be talking about is Stew.
Justin Bartha, stew, is a dentist in the movie, although careers back home dont matter much in this film, beucase it is mostly in vegas.
Stew is dating an over controling freak, who ends up sleeping with a bartender on a cruze ship. he dumps her mostly becuase of her need to control both him and the relationship. Through the course of the party night he gets one of his teeth knocked out, of course he has no idea how, and neither does the viewer but the reaction his girlfriend has when she sees it cuases him to break up with her. As the viewer you only know as much as the characters about their party night, which was a total blur. The reason it was a blur was thanks to a character named Alan garner.
Alan Garner, in real life Zach Galifianakis, slips every body a rufelin in their first drink of the night, Alan is basicaly an untrained monkey when it comes to social abilitys, and is also very immature both mentaly and emotionaly. The basis of the movie is off of his action, becuase he is the one taht cuased the blackout that everybody experienced in the film. This blackout is the reason for the conflict in this movie, becuase this is how they loose the soon to be groom, and coincidentally his soon to be brother in law Doug.
Doug, JustinBartha in real life, is the soon to be groom of Alan Garners sister. Doug is the conflict in this movie, as he is lost no where to be found. He is also the sorce of action for this movie, becuase all of his friends spend all the next day retracing their steps to find him, as the viewer finds out what went on the night before. Next and finaly is Dougs and Stews all time best friend.
Finaly Bradley Cooper, or Phil, is a teacher in this movie. He is one of the leaders in finding their friend, along with Alan , who wasnt much help, and Stew. Phil plays a big role in this movie, as he just wants to find his friend. He is also the one who wanted to party the most in the beggining, becuase he felt disatisfied with his life.
Satire
The kind of satire present here is the kind of stupid yet funny satire that ComedyCorner15 follows, as it is about three friends who try to find their forth after a night of partying and not so good choices. This is mostly stupid funny humor, and doesnt really contain any seriousness exept for at on point in the movie they think doug is kidnapped. The movie follows a very exiting yet simple storyline providing suprizes but not any drama.
