My Rational
garfield is an pampered cat who has alot of adventures. I chose this comic, beucase i was exposed to the movie, and i figured the comic would be just as good. I was first exposed when the movie came out a long time ago, i was probably around eight, i found it very funny, and i still enjoy the movie from time to time.

Commentary upon Garfield the movie
Joe Laydon, reveals his thoughts on how this movie, animatory, is only to impress little kids who still dont knotice how the CGI and real life characters interact. Over all it is clear that MR. Laydon of Variety reviews is not impressed with how the movie comes together. In my opinion this guy is a total quack and seems not to know that this is a kid movie, i mean why would you even seriously review something such as this in that great of detail ? Anyhow the review was indepth never the less, and provided the reader with details on how the movie was put together
A second more refreshing review by Desson Thomson reveals to the reader that infact this is just a silly film for children, nothing peticularly bad with it, just it isnt for anyone over the age of nine. He also says it contains no meaning, to which i would agree, and also that even though it is pointless, it still contains some good comedy.
The third and final review up for mention is one by Jim Lane, he explains this film as a harmless comedy that contains 80 minutes of fun. I think that over all he has a positive view on this film, and i respect his opinion.

Garfield The Comic
Garfield is an comic origionaly written by Jim Davis, Jim was born in the town of Fairmount Indiana. Growing up with his mother father and brother on their farm with 25 cats, Davis had a good childhood. Davis went to collage at Baller university in Indiana, whilst at collage there he joined the Theta Xi Frat. By June of 1978 Davis's relatively new comic about the life of a cat, named after his granfather, was already sindicated in 45 news papers and quickly became the fastest selling comic of all time.
Garfield the character, living in Muncie Indiana, is a very lazy cat who has two main friends. His hatred of mondays and his love of food, peticularly lasana, plays a big role in this comic strip. His friends are Jon and Odie. Jon is his funny owner, who has a very hard time getting a date. He also has a bad taste in clothes, but he does seem to catch the eye of the hot veternarian that takes care of Garfield though, her name is Liz. Odie, the dog who lives with Jon, his owner, and garfield is a bit dumb. Garfield enjoys kicking him off tables and making snarling remarks at him. In all Garfield and his friends make up a happy family that makes for unending fun comedy.

Satire presence
The type of satire in Garfield is most definately sarcastic most of the time, with a bit of situational humor here and there. Many examples of this can be found in the comics made over the years, and in both of the feature films.
